01 / PLAN

Pier and wharf projects combine several disciplines under one job: pile driving, structural steel, concrete forming and pouring, rebar, and often dredging or bulkhead work. Coastal Marine Construction is currently rebuilding and expanding Leonard’s Wharf in New Bedford, a project that includes bulkhead installation, dredging, backfill and compaction, and a fendering and utility upgrade, all self-performed under our crew. That kind of full-scope capability means fewer coordination gaps between trades and fewer opportunities for schedule slippage.

02 / BUILD

Our process starts in pre-construction, where we work through engineering specifications, permitting requirements, and site logistics before mobilizing. Construction typically moves through foundation work (piling, sheet piles, or cofferdams as needed), structural framing, decking, and utility installation, all sequenced by our own team rather than handed off between separate specialty subs. Throughout the project, we work directly with owners and engineers to resolve field conditions as they arise, keeping the job moving instead of pausing for change-order negotiations.
